Which Louis do you Love?

Face it, I don’t think there is a girl in the world who does not own or would love to own a Louis Vuitton bag. Even today when I was sitting at a nondescript coffee shop eating lunch with my husband, he leans over and points out a lady at the next table sporting a gorgeous Denim Mahina that he recognized as a Louis Vuitton creation. This is the man who normally has difficulty choosing a color of shirt to buy and insists that the 80’s was the best fashion era ever! Anyway, this stylish mum was sporting an LV Mahina on one arm and a baby on the other - the Mahina is so roomy it makes an excellent diaper and baby bag and she didn’t have to compromise on style for practicality. That is what I mean about Louis Vuitton - for generations they have been creating gorgeous yet workable bag and luggage solutions including briefcases, trolley bags and passport holders that look great and do their job well.

LV are beginning to branch out into bolder and more vivid designs with the introduction of Murakami bright designs and Marc Jacobs into the family. Designs such as the Watercolor Speedy have left keen customers with longer than average waiting times due to their popularity, with Vuitton still enjoying a huge following for creations such as the classical Monogram and Mini Lin Croisette. So which is your LV favorite?

Babes with Bags…..or Pooch Purses!

Usually we feature some kind of Bag Queen or Purse Princess for our Babes with Bags feature. But when I saw this pic of a babe with her special bag I just could not go past posting it! Now I think I really have seen everything with this walkers pooch purse. Perhaps there is already a roaring trade out there and women all over the world are sporting it on their morning beach walks and I have been hiding under a stone somewhere and not caught onto the fashion yet! I am sure that someone has already patented the pooch purse and its only a matter a time until a company such as Louis Vuitton adds its monogrammed stamp of approval. They already do a hot line in doggie carriers like the Sac Chien 50 which retails at a cool $2000 - now that’s true puppy love! In the meantime I think I’ll stick with the conventional collar and lead, especially since my best friend Calvin is a cross between a doberman and a rottweiler!

Handbag of the Week - Darling Dior

Surely Dior must be the No.1designer bag company when it comes to evening bags and sexy clutches….for today’s Handbag of the Day I decided to go Dior as they are so undeniably gorgeous. Often passed aside for their more fashionable sisters, the Dior brand has been around since the spring of 1947 when Parisian fashion designer Christian Dior introduced his first collection. Dior loved to create fitted ‘new look’ garments where the bust was re-emphasized, choosing womanly and sophisticated looks for his collections. Upon his death in the late 1950’s, Yves Saint Laurent stepped into the role of chief designer for the house of Dior, ushering in a new era where the couture was meticulously made in the same exquisite Dior fabrics. In 1996 John Galliano took the helm and the responsibility of designing for Dior which is now owned by the LVMH group.

To purchase fantastic Dior bags at amazing prices visit 7 Star Handbags

Evening Bijoux Clutch

Created in decadent caramel satin, the Bijoux Clutch features a strass crystal ornament and a tiny crystal Dior embelishment. Perfect for all those event premieres and dinner parties!

Samurai Tote

Probably one of my favorite bags of all time and not for the shrinking violet, the Samurai Tote is also a fave of Lucy Liu. A snip at $3,600, the 1947 Samurai is available in several different incantations, each one as unique and memorable as the last.

Babe Ottoman Purse

With intricate bronze and gold embroidery, the Babe Ottoman Purse is a grown up amongst handbags and perfect for teaming with a little black dress or a simple silk sheath. Always having to be the centre of attention, the Babe Ottoman is a true statement maker

Floral Embroidered Evening Clutch

Lilac and mauve are everywhere this spring season with embroidering making a huge comeback on dresses, shoes and clutch handbags. Finished with distinctive Dior styling, the floral embroidered clutch is the perfect partner for a casual dinner or a lazy long lunch.

For my favorite part of the week “Whats in her Bag?’ we look to bag royalty and Victoria Beckham to fill us in with what she is carrying in her purse around LA: Victoria loves her Hermes Kelly for size and functionality as she is after all a busy mum of 3, along with being a style fashionista and wife to super soccer star David Beckham. I can’t imagine she has all the old receipts, toy cars and biscuit crumbs we all find at the bottom of our handbags, but she does tote around a few things that I would not have expected:

Pink Blackberry - For keeping in touch with her latest gal pal Kate Beckinsale and checking the net for the latest gossip about herself

DVB Sunglasses - Of course Posh would never be seen in anything else than her and David’s own brand of sunglasses from the DVB range. The range also includes jeans, fragrances and whispers of a line of handbags

DS Lite & Beano Comic - With 3 small boys to keep amused as Victoria shops, essentials such as the DS Lite are indispensable for the hectic mum. The Beano comic is a UK kids favorite that both David and Victoria would have grown up reading no doubt . David is reported as being keen for the boys to keep their British accents

Organic Baby Wipes and Nappies - With youngest Beckham family member Cruz coming up to the age of 2, spare diapers, or nappies as they are known in the UK are something every mum knows to carry. Not that we can imagine Victoria nipping into the mother and baby room for a quick change. Baby wipes are also a must for sticky fingers and quick make up touches, with Organic Baby Wipes a firm favorite with the LA baby posse.

Betsey Johnson Make Up Bag- It takes work and touch ups to keep looking this perfect all day, so Mrs Beckham pops a few essentials into a stylish make up bag such as the Betsey Johnson Lipstick and Cosmetic Bag. Betsey is a long time Brit favorite fashion designer with an eclectic and sometimes ‘out there’ range that she has recently brought to cosmetic and toilette bags.

Bag It! The very worst of the Grammy fashions

We love Beyonce who is one of the most stylish stars most of the time, but showing up at the awards dressed like the fairy godmother is not convincing anyone…..all she’s missing is her magic wand *

Cher trying to convince her fashion followers that black garbage bags really are back in fashion. We always knew she was a natural redhead….

The quirky Bai Ling looking more like a roulette table that an award winning actress. No more bets please ladies and gentlemen…

Respectfully yours Aretha Franklin looking like …a big beautiful yellow bird. Enough said

Babes with Bags - The Ever Stylish Kate Moss

On the heels of fellow Brit Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss has indulged in some serious bag spending of late. With favorites such Mulberry, Chanel and YSL, Kate was the star who firmly put the Balenciaga Motorcycle bag on the fashion forefront, spurning a million wannabe supermodels to rush to stores and purchase.

With her own truly British eclectic style, Kate knows how to mix couture with street fashion and always manages to make that ‘just out of bed’ look truly glamorous. Spurned by fashion houses such as Burberry last year after cocaine fuelled party pictures were revealed, Moss is now back on track with contracts for cult UK cosmetic lines such as Rimmel and high street chain Topshop.

Proving that no outfit is complete without an ‘it’ bag to match, Moss favors muted colors such as black and tan but has been known to make exceptions with a bright Yellow Chanel clutch and pale blue Balenciaga Lariat. Purse spending is no stress for Kate with the model splashing out recently on her own London Black Cab to ferry her around the city along with a rumored $250,000 engagement ring that she paid for herself! At 33 there seems to be no stopping one of the longest working supermodels, with retirement not an option with this much bag buying to do !

Our Designer behind the brand this week is James Jean, the mega creative chappie responsible for the gorgeous fairies bag which we mentioned in yesterdays post: My info and research was limited for James as there isn’t much out there, but I was completely captivated by this beautiful video and just had to post it for all to see… James Jean was born in 1979 and is a Taiwanese American artist and illustrator living in Los Angeles. Raised in New Jersey, he attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City, quickly becoming an acclaimed artist for DC Comics upon graduation in 2001. His clients include Rolling Stone Magazine, Time Magazine and lately the beautiful ‘fairies’ campaign for Prada which has seen his work appearing on the most coveted ‘It’ bag of 2008.
