Which Louis do you Love?

Face it, I don’t think there is a girl in the world who does not own or would love to own a Louis Vuitton bag. Even today when I was sitting at a nondescript coffee shop eating lunch with my husband, he leans over and points out a lady at the next table sporting a gorgeous Denim Mahina that he recognized as a Louis Vuitton creation. This is the man who normally has difficulty choosing a color of shirt to buy and insists that the 80’s was the best fashion era ever! Anyway, this stylish mum was sporting an LV Mahina on one arm and a baby on the other - the Mahina is so roomy it makes an excellent diaper and baby bag and she didn’t have to compromise on style for practicality. That is what I mean about Louis Vuitton - for generations they have been creating gorgeous yet workable bag and luggage solutions including briefcases, trolley bags and passport holders that look great and do their job well.

LV are beginning to branch out into bolder and more vivid designs with the introduction of Murakami bright designs and Marc Jacobs into the family. Designs such as the Watercolor Speedy have left keen customers with longer than average waiting times due to their popularity, with Vuitton still enjoying a huge following for creations such as the classical Monogram and Mini Lin Croisette. So which is your LV favorite?

Designer behind Louis Vuitton - Marc Jacobs

The influential designer behind many of Louis Vuitton latest and greatest bags has been the legendary Marc Jacobs: Trained at the New York School of Design, Marc graduated in the early 80’s and began his fashion career with Perry Ellis and was responsible for early ‘grunge’ designs. Designing his first garments under the Marc Jacobs name in 1986, he went on to win awards including New fashion Talent and The Women’s Designer of the Year award. It was in 1997 that Marc was named as Creative Director for the French House, Louis Vuitton, where he created his first ready to wear line. He still continues with his own line of Marc Jacobs boutiques in major cities across the world and has collaborated with fellow designers Takashi Murakami and Richard Prince on current and future Louis Vuitton designs.

Babes with Bags - Jessica Simpson

Our Babe with the Bag this week is none other than the Vuitton Queen herself, Jessica Simpson. Unlike some of our other bag Princesse’s, Jessica tends to stay true to her brand of choice, Louis Vuitton. She is occasionally seen sporting a Michael Kors or Fendi tote, but more often than enough Jessica prefers a classic monogram canvas Vuitton such as this LV Manhattan GM . Designed by Marc Jacobs, the Manhattan exudes urban-feminine style with the chunky gold hardware, complimenting the classic Monogram canvas that has made Louis Vuitton a household name. Perfect for a girl around town such as Jessica, the bag features functional storage spaces for phone, wallet and accesories. Not just another pretty face, unlike poor Jessica….

Louis Vuitton Monogram Manhattan GM available at www.7starhandbags.com for readers special price of $158

New May Releases for Louis Vuitton

Rumor has it that Louis Vuitton are set to release a new bag, designed by Richard Prince in collaboration with resident in house designer Marc Jacobs. Before you start hunting for the prized Speedy Design based bag, be warned that this is a rumor and no release date, information or prices are available….but the info does come from a very reliable source:)

Named the Watercolor Speedy, the bag’s expected sale date is the 1st May 2008, with prices whispers between the $1100 and $1600 mark. The monogram pattern of orange, yellow and red colors make it appear that the design was applied with watercolor paint, hence the naming of the latest Louis Vuitton. There’s a huge waiting list in store already for the new kid on the block, with no confirmed release date ….Watch this space!
